People in Need (PIN) Crisis Intervention Society
Working With The Community To Support People In Need
Why our service is so critical
We never know when a crisis is going to come our way, so knowing that there is always someone there to support us is critical. Our callers are from all walks and stages in life, in all kinds of situations.
Volunteering
"Talking, listening and caring"
Volunteering at the crisis line has several distinct advantages including the opportunity to help those in crisis from an anonymous perspective. Many of our volunteers enjoy being able to give back to the community while at the same time developing excellent communication skills. Crisis line volunteering may be a "perfect fit" for those who are planning a career or working in social work, counselling, education, patient care, criminology, emergency services and coaching.
We provide 30 hours of classroom training plus 12 - 16 hours of 1 on 1 with staff. Volunteers must be at least 19 years old. Considering that we are 24 hours, 7 days a week, there is always a shift to meet your schedule. Staff support is available 24 hours a day.
We are fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers, however, like many other organizations we are being challenged to maintain our capacity to provide our service; we are always looking for people to join our team of amazing volunteers!
Should you be looking for a volunteer opportunity that reaches out to so many people consider the crisis line, please call to book an appointment.
